I would highly advise anyone against applying to work at this company or dealing with them in any manner.

A Headhunter called me and asked about my experience with various technologies. I was frank about things I have experience in and things I do not. The recruiter asked how well I knew React native. I told him I had worked with it before, but I'm not an expert.

He also asked whether I knew GraphQL, which I did not know, and told him I was willing to learn. I was 100% honest with the recruiter from the get-go.

He said I was an excellent fit for his role and asked me to do a technical test to build a complete multi-platform mobile app using React Native based on a text specification and a single screenshot.

Making apps is well within my realm of experience, so I built Genflow Ltd, an application using React Native as they requested as part of the technical challenge. (Good programmers can learn new tech fast).

The next day after submission, They told me I smashed the technical stage, and they were super excited to move me to the final face to face round for personality fit. (I had passed the first two rounds brilliantly)

Before all this, The company reviewed my CV, Shortlisted me based on my experience. They also inspected my Github Profile and background. They had plenty of time to decide if I fit them before disturbing me.

Then they had me do a technical test to build a complete multi-platform app from a spec.

Then at the start of the final round, face to face: the interviewer asked about my React native experience and said: Actually, he is now looking for a Senior React Native dev as he now has a larger budget.

EXCUSE ME? You Find me online, headhunt me, ask my experience, Pitch me a role, tell me I fit your shortlist, ask me to build you an app as a "Tech Test", Tell me I "Smashed it", Waste my time and then finally decide you want a "Senior"?

I put it to the interviewer that this is not an appropriate way to treat your candidates.

The interviewer apologised, but He never even offered to pay me for the time wasted and the app I built.

He apologised and commented that he was very interested in meeting me after seeing my code as it was of outstanding quality.?

What? So you know my profile, read my CV, know my experience, asked me to build an app for you, and then suddenly decide you have a higher budget?

But guys? You asked me to build you an app, the app rocked, and you didn't even pay me for my time!

My advice to readers is: if this company throws a development test at you, or if they even call you, Hang up the phone, AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Please do not waste your precious time with this company by applying for them in a development role.

I have already shared this feedback with the company and now sharing it with you all!!. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

*UPDATE*

That interview was two years ago, and since I am a senior and well paid. But recalling how Genflow acted still makes me very furious.

Please avoid this company at all costs. Do not work for them. Please do not give them any business, buy any of their products or help them in any way. The best thing to do with Genflow is simply in all cases, and all forms AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Do not do any technical tests/ do not apply for jobs for this mickey mouse company. They will waste your time. They used to be called Aflete, however they changed their name after they received lots negative reviews. Joke company.
